Medium abattoirs
The medium scale slaughterhouses have a direct link to purchasing farms, resulting in more cost-effective purchases compared to intermediary traders. Operating on a demand-driven model, they acquire their supplies at lower prices directly from farmers.
Examining the current Australian cattle prices reveals a significant surplus in the market, leading to a decrease in prices by 2-3 thousand Dong/kg compared to the previous week. Specifically, Steers' prices have witnessed a decline of 1-2 thousand Dong/kg this week, while the prices of 3B cattle have experienced fluctuations, ultimately dropping by 2-3 thousand Dong/kg compared to last week.
Traders Big buffalo prices increased this week owing to the demand from China. A higher quantity of big heavy buffaloes is now being exported to China through some borders in the North such as Cao Bang and Lai Chau.
Small Feedlots
The average purchase price of smaller feedlots (operational capacity of less than 100 heads) from farms in Week 47 was around 78,000-82,000 VND/kg. Traders and abattoirs offer lower prices to smaller feedlots due to lower production and inconsistent quality.
Cambodian Border
Presently, there is a substantial volume of Cambodian cattle being exported to Vietnam. Additionally, the quarantine fee for a truck carrying 40 to 50 animals falls within the range of 10,000,000 to 12,000,000 VND.

Medium abattoirs
Australian cattle are purchased by some smaller slaughterhouses. Smaller-sized cattle are purchased by smaller abattoirs as the prices are lower and their overall demand is in small quantities. These kinds of slaughterhouses have shorter supply chain as they prefer to source their cattle directly from the farmers to gain from cheaper prices, rather than through traders.
The price of non-castrated Australian bull in smaller abattoirs remained stable, whereas steer prices decreased by 1-2 thousand VND/kg. BBB cattle prices also witnessed a dip of around 1-2 thousand VND/kg.
Big abattoirs
Regionally, prices in big abattoirs in the north are comparatively higher than in the south.
Prices in week 44 decreased by around 1-2 thousand/kg. Prices of Brahmin and Australian cattle remained the same as in the previous week. The prices of beef also remained unchanged.
