In week 15, the average price of beef thigh remained unchanged compared to the previous week at 202.6 thousand VND/kg. The average price of beef fillet was 225.3 thousand VND/kg, a slight increase of 0.1% compared to the previous week.
In week 16, the prices of Vietnamese beef at supermarkets remained unchanged compared to the previous week. These prices were maintained for 2 consecutive weeks. The lowest prices of beef fillet and beef thigh were recorded at Winmart at 358 thousand VND/kg and 340 thousand VND/kg, respectively. The lowest price of brisket navel end was recorded at Go Mart at 240 thousand VND/kg. In week 16, the prices of Australian beef remained unchanged compared to the previous week. The lowest prices of beef shank and beef brisket were recorded at Home Farm at 230 thousand VND/kg and 289 thousand VND/kg, respectively. The price of Hokubee cube roll at Bach Hoa Xanh was still highly discounted at 780 thousand VND/kg as compared to 916 thousand VND/kg in Week 12.

In week 14, the average prices of beef thigh and beef fillet both increased compared to the previous month. The price of beef fillet was 225.2 thousand VND/kg, an increase of 0.7% compared to week 13. The price of beef thigh was 202.6 thousand VND/kg, an increase of 1.1% compared to week 13.
In week 15, the prices of Vietnamese and Australian beef at supermarkets remained unchanged compared to the previous week.In particular, Co.op Mart, Win Mart and Vissan Mart were the three supermarkets that have maintained the most stable prices since the beginning of 2024. For Vietnamese beef, the lowest prices of beef shank, beef fillet, and beef thigh were recorded at Covifood at 240 thousand VND/kg, 270 thousand VND/kg, and 220 thousand VND/kg, respectively. For Australian beef, the lowest price of beef shank was recorded at HomeFarm at 230 thousand VND/kg. The lowest price of shoulder clod was recorded at Go Mart at 334 thousand VND/kg. The lowest price of beef brisket was at Covifood at 240 thousand VND/kg. In week 13, the average prices of beef thigh and beef fillet both decreased compared to week 12. The price of beef thigh was 200.3 thousand VND/kg - the lowest price since the beginning of 2024, a decrease of 0.6% compared to week 12. The price of beef fillet was 223.6 thousand VND/kg, a decrease of 3.2% compared to week 12.
In week 14, the prices of Vietnamese beef at supermarkets remained stable compared to the previous week, except at Go Mart, which reported an increase in the prices of beef fillet and beef thigh and a decrease in the price of brisket navel end. Co.op Mart and Winmart are the two supermarkets with the least price fluctuations since the beginning of 2024. The lowest price of brisket navel end was recorded at Go Mart at 240 thousand VND/kg. The lowest prices of beef fillet and beef thigh were recorded at Win Mart at 358 thousand VND/kg and 340 thousand VND/kg, respectively. In week 14, the prices of Australian beef at Go Mart increased by 30-40 thousand VND/kg compared to week 13. The lowest prices of Australian beef shank and beef brisket were recorded at Home Farm at 230 thousand VND/kg and 289 thousand VND/kg, respectively. Hokubee beef sirloin at Bach Hoa Xanh was priced at 712 thousand VND/kg, which is the lowest price since the beginning of 2024.
The total value of Vietnam's livestock product exports in February 2024 reached 9.8 million USD, a 36% decrease compared to the previous month and a 18% decrease compared to the same period in 2023. In February 2024, Vietnam's primary livestock product exports include fresh, chilled, or frozen pork (HS 0203) with a value of 5.03 million USD; and processed or preserved meat and meat by-products (HS 1602) with a value of 3.3 million USD. Most of the meat products exported in February decreased compared to the previous month, except the edible offal of bovine animals (HS 0206), which increased by 45%. Export of frozen meat of bovine animals decreased by 27% compared to January 2024. In February 2024, Hong Kong and Japan were the two largest export markets for Vietnam with values of 5.3 million USD and 2.4 million USD, respectively. However, exports to Australia experienced a sharp decline of 95%, constituting a very small proportion of 0.01% of Vietnam’s total livestock product exports. Notably, during this month, the export value to the Japanese market surged by 34%, while exports to the United States also increased by 75% compared to the same month (February) of the previous year. In February 2024, Hong Kong was the primary export market for fresh, chilled, or frozen pork, accounting for an impressive 96.8% of the total value. Meanwhile, Japan received the majority of processed or preserved meat and meat by-products (after being slaughtered and processed)(HS 1602), constituting 71.9% of the overall export value, and 13.5% of exports went to Hong Kong. Additionally, fresh, chilled, or frozen other meat and edible meat offal (HS 0208), were predominantly exported to Belgium and France, making up 59.6% and 24.8%, respectively. In February 2024, Vietnam’s total value of livestock product imports reached 108 million USD, experiencing a 32% decrease compared to the previous month but a 3.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023. In February 2024, most of the meat products imported of Vietnam decreased compared to the previous month, of which, frozen buffalo and cattle meat (HS 0202) with a value of 50.4 million USD were imported, representing a 33% decrease compared to the previous month. Import of processed or preserved meat and meat by-products of the heading HS 0105, whether fresh, chilled, or frozen (HS 0207) was valued at 17.6 million USD, experiencing a 31% decrease compared to the previous month. Meat and edible by-products after slaughter (HS 0206), with a value of 16.6 million USD, showed a 17% decrease compared to the previous month. Imports of live cattle (HS 0102) in February 2024 amounted to 11.1 million USD, which is a 30% decrease compared to January 2024. The import value of fresh or chilled buffalo and cattle meat (HS 0201) was 1.35 million USD, showing a 40% decline compared to the previous month. In February 2024, Vietnam imported livestock products worth USD 44 million from India, 18 million USD from the EU, and USD 14 million from Australia. Imports from India decreased by 11%, while imports from the EU increased by 127%, and imports from Australia increased by 33% compared to the same period last year. This month, Australia and Thailand were the largest sources of live cattle, accounting for 67.1% and 32.9% of the imports, respectively. In terms of fresh or chilled cattle meat, Australia dominated the market with an 81.4% share. Meanwhile, India was the leading supplier of frozen buffalo and beef meat, accounting for 81.6% of Vietnam's imports. In February 2024, Vietnam's imports of livestock products from Australia reached 14.5 million USD, experiencing a 43% decrease compared to the previous month but a 33% increase compared to the same period last year. The most significant items among these imports were live cattle and frozen bovine meat, with import values of 7.4 million USD and 3.98 million USD, respectively. In February 2024, Vietnam's imports of beef and cattle from Australia reached 13.1 million USD, a 45.1% decrease compared to last month and a 29% increase compared to the same period of 2023. Most of the meat and live cattle products imported by Vietnam from Australia in February 2024 decreased compared to the same period last year, except for live cattle. Imports of live cattle reached 13.2 million USD, a 93% increase compared to the same period last year. Following closely were boneless frozen cattle meat with an import value of 3.9 million USD.
In week 12, the average prices of beef thigh and beef fillet both increased slightly compared to week 11. The beef thigh was priced at 201.4 thousand VND/kg, showing a 0.1% increase, while beef fillet was priced at 231 thousand VND/kg, with a 1.2% increase compared to week 11. In week 12, the average price of live weight cattle remained the same as in the previous week at 82 thousand VND/kg. According to local traders, the prices of BBB cattle and Charolais cattle remained unchanged since week 11 up to now. In week 12, the number of cattle at feedlots remained stable, ranging from a minimum of 100 to a maximum of 8,000 animals. Meanwhile, at the abattoirs, the average daily slaughter ranged from a minimum of 5 to a maximum of 30 animals.
In week 12, at the abattoirs, the lowest price for BBB cattle in the Central and Central Highland regions was 170 thousand VND/kg, while the highest price in the North was 190 thousand VND/kg. The lowest price for local cattle in the North was 170 thousand VND/kg, while the highest price was recorded in the North and Central - Highland regions at 180 thousand VND/kg.
In week 13, the price of Vietnamese beef and Australian beef at supermarkets remained stable compared to the previous week. The price of Vietnamese beef at Covi food was lower than at other supermarkets, of which, the price of beef shank was 240 thousand VND/kg, the price of beef fillet was 270 thousand VND/kg, the price of beef thigh was 220 thousand VND/kg. The lowest price for Australian beef shank was at Home Farm at 230 thousand VND/kg. The lowest price for Australian beef brisket was at Vissan Mart at 240 thousand VND/kg. Beef Sirloin Hokubee was priced at 828 thousand VND/kg at Home Farm. |
